One Sketch A Day 2020

At the beginning of 2020 I started the 'one sketch a day challenge'. I wanted to take on the challenge to force myself out of the 'I'll do that another day' mind set. Whilst I have a creative career as a Graphic Designer that I love, I had lost touch with art and hadn't made time to sketch for a long time.

I was expecting to run out of things to draw but then in March 2020 the pandemic hit and there was suddenly a lot to capture. My sketchbook became a central part of my lockdown experience, giving each day a purpose and allowing me to process the strange new world. Equally sketching something completely unrelated to COVID gave me some escapism. For a week in the summer I drew from holiday photos of Paris to take me back to better times. The sketchbook is really precious to me as it captures so many memories of my life during 2020, and it gave me the confidence to broaden my skills into digital art and beyond.
