Royal Academy of Arts Summer Exhibition

The Royal Academy of Arts Summer Exhibition is an annual event that showcases a wide range of contemporary artwork from both established and emerging artists. This year, my NHS Nurse artwork was shortlisted for the 2024 exhibition, and I am incredibly proud of this achievement.

Held every year since 1769, the RA Summer Exhibition is a highly anticipated event which gives anyone the opportunity to submit work. From 16,500 applicants 4,000 artists were shortlisted - including me!

This year’s theme is ‘Space’. Originally drawn in 2020, the sketch was later developed into a full illustration using Procreate. During this time we were all told ‘Hands. Face. Space.’ and made to keep our distance from one another. Meanwhile the NHS was a claustrophobic place to be. I hope my piece serves as a reminder to appreciate the adversity they faced, and their continued dedication during today’s struggles.
